A joint award by the City of Helsinki and Helsinki Design Week recognizes a designer or a design team for making Helsinki a better place to live in. The winner of the 2022 Helsinki Design Award is designer Päivi Raivio.

“I am super delighted about this recognition. It’s wonderful to be recognised for the work I – and we together with Daniel Bumann – have been doing for more than ten years. The 2012 World Design Capital Helsinki year was a turning point in my career as that year there were many new initiatives to integrate design into urban realm, programming public space and interaction.

We have since worked in numerous projects pushing the boundaries of placemaking, urban design and place-led development – and are happy to continue this journey!”
