Data on wheels

Data on Wheels -installation measures air quality in real time and turns it into a changing sound scape. The installation aims to raise awareness about air quality in cities and how it changes according to the traffic flow and different locations.

The sensor measures air quality on “breathing hight” in which pollution and dust levels are the most harmful. Harmful air quality consists of different sized particles (PM), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), carbon dioxide (CO), sulphur dioxide (SO2) and volatile organic compounds (VOC).

Data on Wheels is commissioned by Forum Virium Helsinki as part of MUV – Mobility Urban Values -project , which levers behavioural change in local communities using an innovative approach to improve urban mobility: changing citizens’ habits through a game that mixes digital and physical experiences.
