The youth house in Kivikko had an outdated interiors and the spatial arrangements no longer met the users needs. In the first stage questionnaires were used to map out the needs of the users of the space. The main aims were to add more functions to the spaces; update existing interiors and generate a more user friendly youth house with a clear sense of identity. The youth voted from pre-selected colorschemes, wallpapers, fonts and patterns and also commented the preliminary plans. The questionnaires, chats and vote results were used to generate the overall interior design plan: open up the spaces, have a sense of identity in each room, to increase the user-friendliness and to modernise the look with the given budget and existing frame work. The idea was also to communicate about the youth house and it´s activities towards the public by utilising the large facade windows towards the street.
